So a bit of catch up is needed.. we are very happy to say that a lot was accomplished in the past month. We can finally start legitimately calling our premise a brewery instead of a facility or warehouse.
Our equipment arrived and has been placed. Isn’t it a beautiful sight?
So how did we get here from the last blog post over a month ago? We can attribute the progress to having the trench finally filled so we could move about freely, and the removal of all the debris from the space. This meant we could configure all the insulated panels that have been leaning against the wall into a walk-in cold room. We rigged up a steel beam and two support posts to provide structure along the center seam of the ceiling. Many thanks to Josie from the soon-to-open Suspended Brewing (located near downtown Rockville) for helping us out.
We got our sloped pad protected with a red Sika Mortar and Polyaspartic coating.
Next, the equipment arrived. First truck showed up with the Fermenters and Brite Tank. The next truck brought the Mash/Lauter Tun and Whirlpool/Brewkettle and Hot Liquor Tank.
The day was spent offloading the equipment from the trucks. I had to hold my breath watching our equipment suspended by tow straps to navigate through our door…
The following day was spent placing all of the equipment, and fabricating the pipe connections.
We mostly have loose ends to tie up at this point. The boiler and chiller installation should finish up shortly, and the plumbing, electrical, and miscellaneous general contracting work is coming to a close. We’re getting close. I hate to throw an opening date out there just yet, since obviously the others indicated previously have come and gone… I’ll just stick to COMING SOON until a pending update.
